Occupational Summary

Process operators in the petrochemical industry play a critical role in the safe operation and optimization of the plant. You may work either in the field or in the facility’s control room. Working with the plant’s instrumentation systems, you are responsible for the operation of equipment including pumps, compressors, direct heaters, reactors, extruders and distillation columns. You work with maintenance and other departments to ensure safety, environmental, production and cost goals are met and make any necessary changes to operating processes to maintain product quality. You are responsible for the day-to-day operation of your assigned units during your shift, working with others to deliver optimal performance. Strong math and science skills required.

Minimum Requirements

Two-year degree in process technology of related field or four-year industrial-related degree. Equivalent years of military service may be acceptable, in lieu of experience.
