Deep Water Gulf of Mexico Hurricane and Storm Preparedness
Every year, hurricane season threatens a significant portion of the United States’ energy infrastructure, especially when storms pass through offshore production platforms and pipelines in the Gulf of Mexico, Gulf Coast refineries, power plants, and energy input and export sites.
Hurricane season takes place from June 1 through November 31, and during this time Shell operates with utmost vigilance.
Our approach is to be prepared with response plans and resources, continually monitor weather conditions and storms, take appropriate action when storms impact our facilities, and return to operations as quickly and as safely as possible after storms occur to minimize impacts on energy supply.
