August 27, 2020 08:00 PM CST
Eight GOM assets remain shut in
(ISSUED at 08:00 PM CST) In the wake of now Tropical Storm Laura, eight of Shell’s nine operated assets in the Gulf of Mexico remain safely shut in. Our ninth asset, Perdido in the southwestern Gulf, was not shut in and remains fully operational. Inspections of all assets potentially affected by the storm will be conducted as soon as the weather permits, in order to determine when we will be ready to safely re-deploy personnel and resume operations. Our drilling operations are in the process of re-starting.
As always, the safety of our people, the environment and our assets are Shell’s top priority.
Any personnel moved from, or to, our assets will continue to adhere to our existing strict COVID-19 risk mitigation measures, and all personnel will be required to pass our COVID-19 screening process prior to returning to work offshore.
