The Shell Graduate Program

Embarking on a career in the Corporate Functions area of the Shell Graduate Program, you’ll help deliver the specialist advice that enables us to operate as a highly competitive global business. The program lasts for 3 years and consists of two 18-month job rotations. As a talented problem solver, you'll thrive in our multicultural and interconnected team of business professionals where you'll be given increasing levels of responsibility as you progress.

Contracting and Procurement 

Within Shell’s Contracting and Procurement team, you’ll play a pivotal role in providing the essential support needed to deliver cost-effective solutions that positively impact our businesses. You will work to form long-term relationships with our partners and suppliers, driving Shell’s lasting commitment to social performance and a cleaner global energy future.

The Contract and Procurement team is responsible for everything Shell buys to develop and operate its assets, equating to approximately $65 billion in annual spend. It’s a thrilling environment for graduates keen to test and further develop their interpersonal skills and commercial acumen.

Roles and responsibilities

You'll have the chance to experience different areas within Contracting and Procurement:

  • Planning and performance
  • Category management analysis 
  • Contract management 
  • Sourcing and operations

Roles you could experience include:

  • Contract engineer or analyst
  • Buyer
  • Category and market intelligence analyst
  • Procurement manager

You will take on a range of responsibilities including:

  • Analyzing supplier/category market intelligence
  • Developing cost models
  • Contract bidding and negotiating
  • Post-award contract management
  • Implementing and localizing corporate procurement strategies

Training and development

A role in Contracting and Procurement will improve your understanding of business demand and context, and analysis of market dynamics. You will learn to build and maintain client and co-worker relationships, identify innovative practices, negotiate effectively, and bid on ground-breaking projects. During this time, Shell will provide continuous coaching and mentoring, formal training and regular progress checks to ensure we provide you with everything necessary to help you reach your full potential.
