Recognizing the Newest Shell Employees from LSU

Shell celebrates its continued partnership with LSU by welcoming new engineering graduates and interns to its Norco site, highlighting hands-on experience, industry collaboration, and career opportunities in energy-focused fields.

LSU School of Engineering is best known for its energy-focused programs, strong industry ties, applied research, and hands-on training, particularly in the petroleum, chemical, and civil engineering fields.

The university’s long-standing partnership with energy companies, like Shell, as well as construction infrastructure, manufacturing, and chemical industries, leads to strong internship opportunities and job placement in the southeastern U.S. – including Norco.

A long-time supporter of LSU programs and facilities, Shell is proud to open career doors to engineering students. This summer, Norco welcomes engineering graduates Edward Muhleisen Jr. and Daniel Wieseneck as full-time employees and engineering interns Madeline Doran, Emilee Kennison, Philip Knieper, and Sophie Treuting to the site. They were among eight LSU students participating in a signing day celebration, reinforcing the strong connection between Shell and LSU.

For Environmental Engineering Intern Sophie Treuting, the summer experience offers insight into the industrial side of her chosen field. “Shell environmental engineers have a focus on maintaining air regulations, which is a different engineering aspect that I want to learn more about, in addition to the wise tidbits about industry from my LSU professors,” she explains.

Treuting is also working close to home. A Luling resident who attended St. Charles Parish Public Schools, she is impressed with Shell’s community commitment and involvement in Louisiana. “I have been impressed in the past with how much Shell is involved in the community here in Louisiana, especially in St. Charles Parish. Now I am impressed with how welcoming everyone here is, and how well different sides of the site work together to maintain production efficiently within the facility.”
