Occupational Summary

Layout, assemble and install boiler tanks; perform regular cleaning, maintenance and testing; and replace or repair broken valves, pipes or joints using hand and power tools, gar torches and welding equipment.

In addition to installing and maintaining boilers and other vessels, you may help erect and repair air pollution equipment, blast furnaces, water treatment plants, storage and process tanks and smokestacks. Strong math and science skills required.

Minimum Requirements

High school diploma or GED with completion of a pipefitting course and a year of on-the-job training. Equivalent years of military service may be acceptable, in lieu of experience.

Shell Polymers Project

The Shell Polymers plant will be located on the banks of the Ohio River in Beaver County. It will produce two main classifications of polyethylene. The project will bring new growth and jobs to the region, with an expected 600 permanent employees.
