Shell Deer Park is donating $30,000 in funding to local non-profit organizations through its Community Grants program.

The Community Grants program was announced five years ago to celebrate Shell’s 90th anniversary in Deer Park. Since then, it has provided grants to recognize programs with the greatest potential to benefit the community. Organizations must fill out an application for review and a panel of individuals from Shell and community members evaluate and choose which grant applications they believe would have the greatest community impact.

Let’s meet the eight 2023 Community Grants recipients:

  • A New Dawn Pet Adoption – Funding materials and labor costs for building renovations including new turf to be added for their adoptable dogs to run around and play (https://anewdawnpetadoption.org/)
  • San Jacinto Museum & Battlefield Association – Commemorating the sacrifice of the Texans who have given their lives in armed conflicts by contributing to the Texas Memorial Illumination Event (https://www.sanjacinto-museum.org/)
  • City of Deer Park Historical Committee – Updating Patrick’s Cabin, located on Center Dr., to further promote the preservation and presentation of Deer Park’s important landmarks. (https://deerparktx.gov/250/Historical-Committee)
  • Clothed by Faith – Providing clothing to 166 at-risk children and adults in Deer Park who may otherwise face social, financial or emotional barriers due to inadequate clothing (https://www.clothedbyfaith.org/)
  • Jane Around the World – Beautification of their facility in La Porte with landscaping and their outdoor area to cultivate community (https://janearoundtheworld.org/)
  • Deer Park Chamber Foundation – A junior ambassador program across the community and its schools to develop future leaders for city council, non-profit organizations and promote understanding finances (https://www.deerparkchamber.org/)
  • San Jacinto United FC – reading materials to expand the reach of the school district’s Book Bus Program that seeks to maintain or increase literacy across all reading levels (https://www.sanjacintounitedfc.com)
  • The Wheelhouse – Providing a meditation and prayer Serenity Garden for their residents (https://www.thewheelhouse.org/)

Congratulations to all the 2023 Community Grants recipients. The breadth and scope of these projects are truly impressive, and we look forward to the benefits they will bring.
