Shell Polymers has a deep respect for military veterans like Lacree. Special recruiting events held earlier this year appealed directly and successfully to veterans, who will represent more than 10% of the operator workforce at the new plant.

Serving the Local Community

Giving back to our community is an important part of Shell Polymers’ commitment to Pennsylvania. Employees are encouraged to volunteer their time and energy to local charity organizations and benefits—like renovating the playground at Port City Park in Vanport, maintaining the flower beds at the Penn State Extension near Beaver Valley Mall, or working at the community food bank.

For example, one of many volunteer programs supported by Shell Polymers is CommuniCycle. This organization collects used bikes and parts and coordinates community events to assemble and repair them for deserving local kids and adults. To kick off 2019, volunteers from our technical team spent part of a day assembling bikes. The experience not only helped our internal team building but also helped make progress toward our goal of having 1,000 bikes ready for children and adults in the local area this summer.
