Shell is very active in the communities in which we live and work, partnering with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to have a positive impact on diverse communities. Our Diversity Outreach Portfolio includes local, regional and national organizations to build the kind of strong relationships that foster real change for individuals and for communities. Our goals include cultivating economic growth in the business community, developing potential Shell employees, and building strong relationships with our various customer groups.

Diversity Outreach Partners

Some of our key national Diversity Outreach partnering organizations include:

Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics (ACT-SO)

ACT-SO is the NAACP’s yearlong achievement program designed to recruit, stimulate, and encourage high academic and cultural achievement among African-American high school students.

American Association of Mexican Americans (AAMA)

For more than 40 years, AAMA has helped Latinos achieve their potential. We’ve motivated at-risk youth to finish school and encouraged many to go on to college. We’ve taught immigrant adults to communicate in English and have guided scores of them to gain the knowledge they need to become contributing United States citizens.

Asian Pacific American Advocates - OCA

OCA is a national membership driven organization dedicated to advancing the social, political, and economic well-being of Asian Pacific Americans, touching tens of thousands of individuals each year through its extensive network of over 100 chapters, affiliates, and partners from around the country.

The Executive Leadership Council (ELC)

The Executive Leadership Council is an independent, non-profit 501(c)(6) corporation, founded in 1986 by African American corporate executives dedicated to a bold mission – to provide African American executives of Fortune 500 companies with a network and leadership forum that adds perspective and direction to the achievement of excellence in business, economic and public policies for the African American community, their corporations and the community at large. Shell partners with the ELC by sponsoring competition and providing ongoing support from our own executive ranks.

Houston Area Urban League (HAUL)

The mission of HAUL is to enable African Americans and other minorities to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights. HAUL helps families achieve self-sufficiency and become productive citizens in the community by providing services that empower those who have traditionally been underserved in the community.

League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC)

The mission of LULAC is to advance the economic condition, educational attainment, political influence, housing, health and civil rights of the Hispanic population of the United States. LULAC provides local and national connectivity with the Hispanic community.

The National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering (NACME)

Since 1974, NACME has provided leadership and support for the national effort to increase the representation of successful African American, American Indian and Latino women and men in engineering and technology, math and science-based careers. Shell has been a committed partner for many years in support NACME programs and will continue to pursue new approaches with NACME to increase internship opportunities and fill the talent pipeline.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)

The mission of the NAACP is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate race-based discrimination.
