Tropical Storm Francine- Update #2
September 9, 2024 20:00 CST
Shell Gulf Coast
(ISSUED at 20:00 CST) Shell is actively monitoring Tropical Storm Francine. Because of downstream impacts, we are in the process of shutting in production at our Perdido asset. Earlier, we safely paused drilling operations at Perdido. At our Whale asset, which is not scheduled to begin operations until later this year, we have also safely paused drilling operations.
We also evacuated non-essential personnel as a precautionary measure, at our Enchilada/Salsa and Auger assets.
There are currently no other impacts to our production across the Gulf of Mexico.
In addition, the Shell manufacturing facilities along the Gulf Coast are closely monitoring storm conditions and are prepared to act as appropriate based on our established hurricane readiness and response plans.
Our Gulf Coast manufacturing and chemicals facilities are in Deer Park, Texas; and Convent, Geismar and Norco, Louisiana.
We will continue to monitor weather reports and respond accordingly. As always, Shell’s top priority is the safety of our people, the environment, and our assets.
