Subapriya’s story
This is the photo-story of Subapriya Guruprasad who, as of March 2017, is a Senior Analyst in Shell Ethics, Compliance & Governance, based in Chennai, India. As a people-person, she loves the opportunities for collaboration offered by her role and the positive, happy environment in which she works.
“Life is full of choices and I choose to be happy” – that’s the positively orientated philosophy that I live by. I’m Subapriya Guruprasad, Senior Analyst in Shell Ethics, Compliance & Governance, based in Chennai, India. I’m also an MBA graduate with a commerce background. I’ve been at Shell for eight years now, starting off as an Analyst in the R&A Cash Management team. I was then promoted to the Business Continuity & Information Management team where I accomplished my Green Belt certification for streamlining process guidelines for Effective Records Management across Finance Operations. I was delighted to get the chance to visit Manila and Kuala Lumpur to roll out this process in those countries. I find it invigorating to deal with top management, with Operations and with inducting new joiners. As a people person, who could ask for more?
This was at Cash Management, one of the events that we attended as a team. I think it reflects the diversity of our team that some came in jeans and I came in a traditional sari, so we took a picture with the caption “differently dressed, united by happiness”.
I recently got to host an Ethics & Compliance (E&C) event. Oddly enough in this picture, these veteran Shell people are asking me the questions! The guy is giving me the thumbs up because he said the answer I just gave was a good one. They were testing my knowledge; luckily, I passed!
In this photo, I’m hosting an event about cyber-crime awareness, which was a big campaign that my team undertook. I’m confident with public speaking as I’ve taken several courses at Shell to improve my presentation skills. The audience here was very receptive. We helped them to understand the different risks they were going through.
This is a great snapshot of Shell people from across Chennai at the close of the E&C event. We all worked together to increase awareness of ethics and compliance in Chennai. This is what good collaboration looks like.
This was from our Christmas celebrations in Manila with the Business Continuity & Information Management team, and it was one of my happiest moments. Across boundaries, Santa spreads smiles!
My philosophy is: “Be happy for this moment, this moment is your life.” Funnily enough, behind me you can see the Fun Corner. It’s where we go to discuss our happy moments together, whatever they may be.
I am powered by collaboration. Our successes and achievement have come from great coordination and supporting each other. Coming together is the beginning, keeping together is progress and working together is success. By collaborating effectively, we turn ordinary moments into successful ones. That makes me happy.
