Industrial
In the industrial sector, packaging plays a critical role in protecting products, optimizing the supply chain and reducing shipping costs. High density polyethylene (HDPE) is widely used to produce items like blow-molded intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) due to its strength, durability, and ability to perform in extreme temperatures. At Shell Polymers, we work closely with converters to help ensure our polymers maintain quality through the production process—enabling better packaging and logistics for brands.

Product 101
At Shell Polymers, our polyethylene resins are engineered to help support production across a wide range of industrial applications, including packaging and logistics. From helping to protect goods in transit to enabling streamlined supply chain operations, our materials serve as the foundation for versatile packaging solutions. Explore the technical details below to compare melt index, density and documentation for each of our options.

Density is reflected by the first two numbers found in the product name, which is 18 in this instance. These numbers represent the last two significant digits of the density value. See examples below.
18 = 0.918 density
53 = 0.953 density
63 = 0.963 density
