The applications hall is a comprehensive building that will contain industrial-sized, conversion machines for pipe, blow molding, injection molding, and blown film applications by reliable manufacturers. Converters will work hand-in-hand with our technical services team on our state-of-the-art equipment to brainstorm custom solutions.

Industry-leading pioneers such as Francisco Alvarez, Carl Baker, Dan Falla, Elliot Carnevale, and Michael Misco will work in the applications hall to partner with our customers to troubleshoot technical challenges.

To set our technical service team up for success, we're filling the applications hall with state-of-the-art, commercial equipment. Converters can count on our machines to run properly and efficiently so they can collaborate with our Polymer Pros and Pioneers whenever they need to test resin and troubleshoot, without having to shut down your business’ production lines. Blow Molding

The application hall will have two industrial-sized, blow-molding machines:

  • A Kautex electric machine equipped with a mono-layer and size-layer flow head that can be used to manufacture containers of different sizes
  • A Uniloy mono-layer hydraulic machine that can be used for dairy applications

Blown Film

The application hall will have three industrial-sized Alpine film lines that produce:

  • 9-layer blown film
  • 5-layer blown film
  • Mono-layer blown film

Injection Molding

The application hall will have three industrial-sized KraussMaffei injection molding machines:

  • a 650-metric ton machine typically used for making buckets
  • a 120-metric ton machine that can be used to make caps and closures
  • an 80-metric ton machine for making test parts

Pipe Extrusion

The application hall will have an industrial-sized pipe extrusion machine:

  • KrauseMaffei two-layer machine that can make pipe between 1” and 4”

Shell Polymers also features several labs staffed with polymer scientists that work closely with our technical service teams to help solve customer challenges. This includes a lab dedicated to quality control that ensures the product meets the required specifications, as well as a separate polymer science lab for conducting full characterization of Shell Polymers resins, properly measuring the performance of parts fabricated from it.
