CHALLENGE
This construction company was operating Scania P 420 engines in year-round 35C temperatures in the Peruvian jungle and at 650m above sea level. It wanted to identify a lubricant that would extend the life of its equipment and increase availability.
SOLUTION
The Shell Lubricants team recommended using Shell Rimula R5 E for its 100 ppm sulphur content - ensuring that the oil life would be extended for both the engine and the transmission. The team also provided a package of consultancy services that included Shell LubeAnalyst, Shell LubeCoach and Shell LubeVideoCheck.
OUTCOME
By helping to extend the engine ODI from 250 to 350 hours, the technical advice and new product have reduced oil, component and manpower costs and led to increased equipment uptime.

The combination of reduced maintenance and consumables costs saw the company report estimated annual savings of US$187,000.
