Shell in the community

Shell is proud to be a part of the fabric of the Beaver County community. The bulk of our Shell Polymers employees live, work and play here, so we want to help make our community better whenever we can.  Over the years, Shell and the contractors who helped build the site, have donated millions of dollars and thousand of volunteer hours to Beaver County and the surrounding areas. We specifically focus and fund programs and projects that center around STEM education, the environment, workforce development and community resilience.

Caring for our friends and neighbors

Community Care Team 

When we realized the seriousness of COVID 19 and the profound effect it could have on our communities, we created a Community Care Team at Shell Polymers to specifically focus on the needs of our neighbors. In some cases, that need was for personal protection equipment or supplies. We donated thousands of N-95 masks, nitrile gloves and safety glasses to Heritage Valley, UPMC and several smaller health care facilities in our region. We also donated thousands of gallons of hand sanitizer to Medic Rescue of Beaver County and to several schools in our region. 

Food and supplies to our friends and neighbors

Shell took an active role in providing food and supplies to our friends and neighbors who were facing food insecurity. We partnered with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Beaver County Chamber of Commerce to help us help our neighbors. Through these partnerships we were able to provide food and supplies to over 5,0d00 families in Beaver County and the surrounding areas. That was all through the power of care and partnership.

We also helped, and continue to support, many of our nonprofit partners that were struggling. We donated over $125,000 to the YMCA, Hugh Lane Foundation, Meals on Wheels, the Salvation Army and several other organizations that were trying to keep up with request from clients who needed help just to feed their families.

And we didn’t forget about our furry friends either. We sponsored an employee donation drive for the Beaver County Humane Society. Many pet owners were having trouble feeding their pets and sadly had to surrender their animals to the shelter. Our employees donated dog and cat food, as well as money to the Humane society to help ease their burden of feeding and caring for the influx of animals due to the pandemic.

That is just some of what Shell has done and continues to do to help others. We do it because it is the right thing to do….and we because we are good neighbors.
