Shell Refinery Fuels Education in Martinez
Nov 02, 2018
The 2018 Shell Martinez Refinery & Martinez Education Foundation's (MEF) 5K Run for Education was a huge success! Hundreds of athletes of all ages helped raise $90,000 for MEF.
Shell Martinez Refinery GM Tom Rizzo and External Relations Manager Ann Notarangelo presented the Martinez Education Foundation with a check for $90,000 at this year's Run for Education.
Over the past 16 years since the event began, the race has raised $815,000. To receive a share of that money, Martinez Unified School District teachers draft submit grant applications explaining what they would like to accomplish. Once approved by the Board, teachers use the grants for items such as laptops, science and art supplies, robotics equipment, books and tricycles. The 2019 Run for Education will break the $1 million mark.
