A man standing at the plant area

I grew up, raised a family and spent numerous years volunteering in Deer Park. In 2000, I was fortunate enough to come work at Shell Deer Park, after spending ten years at a local competitor. I started my Shell career in Operations at the Lube Plant and moved to Health and Safety a few years later.

In 2010, I had an opportunity of a lifetime - to spend a year on the Pearl Project in Doha, Qatar. Working in a foreign country and meeting people from around the world, from different cultures and backgrounds really opened my eyes. I was able to see not only how big the world is, but how much of a global company Shell really is. After the year, expecting to come back to Shell Deer Park, I was given the opportunity to move to Projects and Technology. In my new role, I travelled to Shell sites globally. I visited 18 countries and 6 continents in total.

I’ve been back at Shell Deer Park for 18 months, and still live in Deer Park. The city has grown and the site has changed, but the people of the city and employees at the site continue to support each other on a daily basis. No matter how many trips around the world I take, Deer Park will always be my home.

#MyShellStory is a campaign asking you to share your story about Shell Deer Park. If you, or your family, have a story about working at the site, with our employees on community boards or if you’ve ever visited the site during family day or a new unit opening event, we’d like to hear it. Post your stories, photos or videos on social media and tag it with #MyShellStory.

You can follow along as employees share their #MyShellStory by following Shell Deer Park on Facebook and Twitter
