9th Annual Strides for Schools Fun Run

Shell Deer Park is proud to support the Deer Park Education Foundation as the presenting sponsor in the 9th Annual Strides for Schools Fun Run, on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at Clyde Abshier Stadium.
The Deer Park Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds outside of the Deer Park Independent School District’s normal operating budget to award Teacher Enrichment Grants. The grants raised from Fun Run enable teachers to provide students with unlimited learning experiences, more supplies and educational programs that may not be available otherwise. As presenting sponsor, Shell underwrites the cost of the event meaning that every dollar raised through registrations and additional sponsorships goes toward a teacher grant in DPISD. In addition to underwriting the event, Shell also matches registrations, doubling the impact of all those that register.

“This is the 9th year for the Strides for Schools 5k Fun Run,” Foundation Coordinator Jennifer Torres explained. “Through the partnership with the Deer Park Education Foundation and Shell Deer Park, the Fun Run has grown each year, becoming a successful community event that raises funds to support STEM education at all levels of learning.”

Last year, with over 1,760 registrations, Fun Run successfully raised $144,000 in funds and rewarding 138 grants – not to mention raising the bar for 2018!
“Fun Run ties back to our flagship perfectly in that it hits many key values we strive to achieve,” Civil Supervisor and Deer Park Education Foundation Board Member Brett Scull says. “This event is all about being caring, showing compassion, having fun and supporting our community.”
“Shell is certainly the driving force behind the entire event,” explains Deer Park ISD Superintendent Victor White. “The sponsorship, the work of the volunteers and the corporate contributions that go toward the Foundation are just invaluable and we can’t express our appreciation enough.”
Shell Deer Park’s site band 7 Mile Perimeter will be back for 2018 and ready to encourage runners to rock and roll across the finish line in addition to the day’s other exciting events. Expect family friendly activity booths, concessions and an Awards Ceremony for all to enjoy.
