Darylene Harris Recognized in Faces of Diversity
Darylene Harris, Plant Manager/General Manager at Shell’s Port Allen plant in Louisiana, was recognized recently by Diversity in Action, a publication dedicated to supporting and promoting diversity in science, technology, engineering, the arts and math.

“My first love was and always will be chemistry!”
Darylene Harris’s passion is hard to miss! “My first love was and always will be chemistry,” exclaims Darylene Harris, Plant Manager/General Manager at Shell’s Port Allen plant in Louisiana. She holds three educational degrees; a Bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Tulane University, a Bachelor’s in Chemistry from Xavier University, and an Executive MBA from Tulane University.
Darylene started as a summer intern at Shell’s Norco, Louisiana Refinery. This became the start of her nearly 30-year career at Shell! She has excelled in roles in various areas, including process engineering, operations management, business strategy, joint venture management, business planning, and capital projects for Shell’s global downstream business.
A Mentor - Shell’s WAVE and SBNG networks
She has now been General Manager of the Port Allen Plant since January 2018, working in Shell’s Catalyst and Technologies Division. She says she owes her success to her great support from mentors along the way. She has indeed been a mentor, herself, for the past 15 years in both Shell’s WAVE and SBNG networks.
Shell Workforce Development and Diversity Outreach
In addition to mentoring, she is an active Board member of the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering and participates in numerous Shell Workforce Development and Diversity Outreach initiatives that provide access to talent for the organization.
