Products Shipped by Pipeline
Pipelines carry a wide variety of products that affect our lives and support our livelihoods.
Water, hydrogen, sewage, slurry, biofuels and even beer are moved efficiently and inconspicuously through America’s massive underground pipeline maze.
Pipelines also transport crude oil, natural gas and such refined petroleum products as home heating oil, diesel fuel, aviation and jet fuels, kerosene and, of course, gasoline. Different regions of the country require different gasoline made with different "recipes" in order to reduce air pollution, and these formulations might vary from season to season.
In addition, refineries typically produce several grades of each gasoline formulation. As a result, pipelines transport dozens of different gasoline blends from refineries to market each day.
