Norco Community Fund
The Norco Community Fund was established by Shell Chemical Norco and Motiva Norco Refining. Interest from the million endowment is used for programs benefiting Norco and its residents. Since its inception in 2001, the Norco Community Fund has awarded over $26,000 in grants to area nonprofits serving the Norco community.
The Norco Community Fund is a donor advised fund of The Greater New Orleans Foundation which manages the process of receiving grants and responding to questions about the grant process. Since its inception in 2001 the Norco Community Fund has awarded over 26,000 in grants to area nonprofits serving the Norco community.
An Advisory Committee of Norco business and civic leaders reviews all proposals and considers funding for new and creative programs, capital improvements, and seed money to help start a new organization that responds to an important opportunity in the community. In addition, the committee will consider bridge grants to sustain organizations experiencing unusual financial hardship.
Norco is a better place to live because of this effort
"I have thoroughly enjoyed working with Norco Community Fund. The grant program has proven to be a very positive endeavor. The projects, although very different in nature, have all added to the well-being of the community.
-- Alice St.Ament, NCF Advisory Committee Member
“For one week in the summer, selected students have the opportunity to focus on science with a variety of projects and experiences. It’s an exciting adventure and hopefully an opportunity to create future scientists for our community.”
-- Rita St.Pierre, Principal, Norco Elementary School, grant recipient.
"The Norco Community Fund is the only community in the country with such a fund dedicated to quality of life resources. The selection of grant recipients follows strict guidelines set by the charter Norco Community Fund Advisory Committee. There are high standards regarding the utilization of funds and selection of grants with many hard choices and decisions made during the selection process.”
-- Ben Johnson, Executive Director, The Greater New Orleans Foundation
