Quaker State Driver Ends up Fourth in Championship Standings
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car season closed the 2009 season with the third annual World Finals at The Dirt Track @ Lowe’s Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina this past weekend. Racing action began on Thursday with qualifying and was followed by full racing programs on Friday and Saturday. Kinser struggled a little in Friday’s competition but pulled out one final top-five finish during Saturday action before finishing fourth in the championship point standings.
The World Finals opened with qualifying sessions on Thursday night with Kinser making his way around the 0.4-mile oval of LMS with a lap of 13.869 seconds, quick enough for the fourth overall position.
In the second night of racing the Bloomington, Indiana native finished third in his heat race and seventh in the Crane Cams Dash earning himself a top-10 starting spot in the 30-lap A-main. Kinser struggled in the main event and took the checkered flag in the 17th position.
On Saturday, Kinser and the Quaker State team set out to redeem themselves and did just that. The 20-time World of Outlaws Champion took the win in his heat race and finished fourth in the Crane Cams Dash. He started the A-main in the second row and crossed the start/finish line in the same position as he started, earning yet another top-five finish with a fourth-place run.
Kinser maintained the fourth position in the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Championship Standings, a position he has held for the majority of the 2009 season.
