Quaker State Driver Scores a Pair of Top-Five Finishes in Two Nights of Racing Action

Kinser on the track

Steve Kinser and the Quaker State team continue their quest for a record setting 21st Series Championship by turning in solid runs each and every time they take to the track. This past weekend's event at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada was no different with Kinser earning two top-five finishes in two nights of racing action at the 3/8-mile track.

Kinser made history at the track claiming the inaugural race back in 2007. Having finished fourth or better in all four of his starts at the Canadian track, the 20-time series champion looked for nothing short of a top-five finish in both events this past weekend.

In the first night of competition Kinser qualified the Quaker State Maxim in the fifth position followed by a fifth-place finish in his heat race. With a fourth-place run in the Crane Cams Dash, the Bloomington, Indiana native earned a second-row starting spot for the 35-lap A-main. Kinser battled Donny Schatz early in the race moving into the third position before taking on the second spot on lap10. The former champion set his sights on the leader but had to settle for second-place.

"We definitely gained a lot tonight from where we have been the last three or four races," said Kinser. "I feel like we have a car that we can get up front and we'll work with it and see what we got tomorrow night."

The Quaker State team continued a strong showing in the second night of competition with Kinser once again qualifying the Quaker State Maxim in the fifth position. A third-place finish in his heat race and fourth-place run in the Crane Cams Dash put the Indiana native in a solid starting-position for the A-main. Rolling off from the fourth position, the Quaker State driver picked off a spot on the opening lap before finishing third in the 35-lap feature. His third-place run marked the 20-time champion's 40th top-10 finish of the season.

Next up for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is a stop at Skagit Speedway in Washington on Friday, September 4 and Saturday, September 5.
