22/08/2009
Quaker State Driver Remains Fourth in Championship Point Standings.
After taking a weekend off from regular action, Steve Kinser and the Quaker State team headed to North Dakota for two nights of racing over the weekend. Kinser kept his steak of solid runs going scoring a top-five and top-10 finish and maintaining the fourth position in the championship point standings.
With Wednesday's scheduled event at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota being postponed due to heavy rains the series turned their attention to the weekend's events at River Cities Speedway and Dacotah Speedway.
Kinser brought the Quaker State maxim home to a fifth-place finish in Friday night's event at the high-banked bullring of River Cities Speedway after starting in the seventh-spot. Kicking the night off with a 10th-place qualifying run, the 20-time champion went on the win his heat race. A seventh-place finish in the Crane Cams Dash put the Quaker State driver on the fourth row for the start of the 30-lap A-maim before finishing in the top-five.
With the momentum of a solid run on Friday the Bloomington, Indiana native entered the high-banked 3/8-mile track of Dacotah Speedway with hopes of at least another top-five finish. Entering the event as the reigning race winner the Quaker State driver got off to a strong start qualifying the Quaker State Maxim in the top spot. He followed that qualifying effort up with a win in his heat race and 10th-place finish in the Crane Cams Dash. The King of Outlaws finished the 35-lap A-main just outside the top-five with a sixth-place run.
Next up for the World of Outlaws is the third annual Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Racing is set to start on Friday, August 28 with additional action on Saturday, August 29.
