Quaker State Driver Remains Fourth in the Championship Point Standings.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series spent the weekend at I-55 Raceway in Pevely, Missouri for two nights of racing action. The Inaugural Ironman 55 was kicked off at the high-banked 1/3-mile bullring on Friday, August 7 with the finale that paid $20,000 to the winner taking place on Saturday, August 8.
With three A-feature wins at the track under his belt, Kinser hoped to add another win to his 2009 resume as he continues to pursue a record 21st series championship.
Kicking off the weekend on a high note, the Bloomington, Indiana native turned in the quickest time during the qualifying session with a 10.209 second lap around the fast oval. Following that up with a runner-up finish in his heat race, Kinser went on to finish eighth in the Crane Cams Dash earning a fourth-row started spot in the A-main. The Quaker State driver finished ninth in the 30-lap main event earning another top-10 finish.
With the first night of competition completed, Kinser returned for Saturday night's action and qualified the Quaker State Maxim in the eighth position. The King of Outlaws scored a fourth-place run in his heat race before the evening's main event. After starting the feature in the 15th position the 20-time champion finished the 55-lap A-main just outside the top-10 in the 11th spot.
With his ninth-place finish in the opener at I-55 Raceway, Kinser picked up his 36th Top-10 of the season. The 20-time series champion remains fourth in points and is just 24 markers behind Saldana as the pair battles for the third spot.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will take a weekend off before returning to racing action on Wednesday, August 19 at Deer Creek Speedway in Spring Valley, Minnesota. The series will then move on to River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota on August 21 and Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, North Dakota on August 22.
