Quaker State Driver Continues Strong Bid for 21st Series Championship
The World of Outlaws continued a busy summer schedule this weekend with a double-header at Dodge City Raceway Park located in Dodge City, Kansas. The cars took to the 3/8-mile oval for the Boot Hill Showdown at Dodge City Raceway Park on Friday, June 12 and Saturday June 13. Kinser headed to the track second in the championship standings and with one victory at the state-of-the-art facility back in 2004.
The Quaker State driver started the weekend off on a strong note after qualifying fifth in time trials and finishing second in his heat race. With his strong finish in the heat race, Kinser earned a spot in the Crane Cams Dash where he finished seventh to start on the fourth row in the A-feature. After starting in the seventh position the 20-time World of Outlaws champion worked his way up a few spots to finish fourth in the A-main.
With another top-five finish behind him, Kinser and the Quaker State team returned to Dodge City Raceway Park for a second night of racing action. After qualifying in the eighth position, the Bloomington, Indiana native finished fourth in his heat race.
Starting from the 14th position in the A-main, Kinser settled in for 30 laps of racing action. The feature event was interrupted by a rain delay that lasted just a little over three hours before Kinser finished in the 12th position ending his weekend disappointed.
Kinser still leads the series with 22 top-10 finishes with 15 of those being top-five performances. He slipped from second to third in the overall point standings after this weekend's events.
The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series will gear up for three nights of racing at three different tracks next weekend. They will kick off the weekend on Friday, June 19 at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, North Dakota followed by events at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, North Dakota on Saturday, June 20 and Nodak Speedway in Minot, North Dakota on Sunday, June 21.
