Quaker State Driver Remains Solid Over Memorial Day Weekend Trio As He Continues To Pursue A Record 21st Series Championship

Kinser Racing to the win

The World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series was busy over the Memorial Day weekend with a trio of races that kicked off on Friday, May 22 at The Dirt Track at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. Following the event at Lowe's was a stop at Virginia Motor Speedway for the Paul Sawyer Memorial. The final event run on Memorial Day was at Canadaigua Speedway in New York.

With two career wins in Charlotte, the 20-time series champion looked to continue his strong start to the 2009 season as he pursues his 21st career championship.

Kinser kicked off the weekend by qualifying his Quaker State Maxim in the third spot followed by winning his heat race. A sixth-place run in the Crane Cams Dash put the Bloomington, Indiana native in the third row for the start of the 30-lap A-main. Kinser used a strong restart on the 22nd lap of the feature event to gain a couple of spots putting himself in the fifth position where he took the checkered flag.

The series moved on to the semi-banked half-mile of Virginia Motor Speedway in Jamaica, Virginia for Saturday night's event. Kinser who has won in nearly every state he has competed was looking to add the state of Virginia to that list over the weekend.

The Quaker State driver got off to a good start qualifying in the sixth position and finishing fourth in his heat race. After an 11th-place start in the A-main, Kinser was able to score another top-10 finish by bringing his Quaker State Maxim home to a ninth-place finish scoring his 17th top-10 finish in just 20 events run so far.

Capping off the holiday weekend was a stop at Canadaigua Speedway, a semi-banked half-mile track in Canadaigua, New York. Kinser led all drivers with four wins at the track going into the Memorial Day event.

After turning in the fifth fastest lap in time trials and finishing second in his heat race, Kinser came all the way from sixth to win the Crane Cams Dash to earn the pole for the main event. Starting from the point in the 25-lap A-main, Kinser battled for the lead in the first eight laps before being passed and dropping to the runner-up spot. The 20-time World of Outlaws champion wound up second in the Quaker State Maxim.

Next up for the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series is a stop at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio on Friday, May 29 followed by a visit to I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan on Saturday May 30.
