Ryan Gifford and Team Dillon Racing are set to kick off the 2009 season with the 19-year-old making his first appearance in a Dirt Modified car. The team will head to Florida for seven days of racing at Volusia Speedway Park, located just 30 miles east of Daytona International Speedway.

Racing action begins on Tuesday, February 3rd lasting through February 10th. "I'm really looking forward to speedweek at Volusia," Gifford commented. "It being my first time in a modified car will definitely make it a challenge, but racing seven nights will give me plenty of time to learn and grow as a driver. I just want to thank everyone Shell and Pennzoil for the opportunity."

Ryan competed last weekend at Volusia to get a head start on the racing action next week. He won his heat race and finished second in the feature in an event run to kick off the "Speedweeks" events at the track beginning in early February.

Gifford is coming off of a strong year racing for Team Dillon in the No. 29 Shell Chevrolet Late Model. He finished the season sitting in the sixth spot in the Grand National point standings. The youngster recorded 20 top-10 and 17 top-five finishes in just 29 starts. He also took home three trophies with his three wins for the season.
