Einset Subsea Development
Einset is located in Viosca Knoll Blocks 872 and 873 in the Gulf of Mexico about 170 miles southeast of New Orleans in approximately 3,500 of water. The leases were acquired in OCS Lease Sale 169 in March 1998. Shell is the operator and has a 50% interest in the project. Dominion Exploration and Production, Inc. also has a 50% interest.
Exploration and Discovery
The discovery well was drilled in December 1998 on Viosca Knoll Block 872 by Shell using Diamond's Ocean Worker semi-submersible rig. The original well was sidetracked in January 1999.
The target reserves are in turbidite sands at depths ranging from approximately 9,626 feet to 9,621 feet subsea. The average net thickness is approximately 25 feet. The reserves are primarily dry gas. API gravity is about 40 degrees with no sulfur content.
Development Plans
Einset is a single well subsea development consisting of a 5-mile tieback to Shell's SE Tahoe subsea manifold in Viosca Knoll 784. Production is transported 12 miles to Shell's Bud Lite platform, located on Main Pass 252, for processing and export. The subsea controls extend from Bud Lite through the Tahoe umbilical termination structure and a 7-mile umbilical to Einset.
Production began December 2001.
