Crosby Subsea Development

Crosby is located in Mississippi Canyon blocks 898 and 899 in the Gulf of Mexico about 160 miles southeast of New Orleans in approximately 4,400 feet of water.

The leases were acquired in OCS Lease Sale 113 in March, 1988. Shell is the operator for development, and has a 50% interest in the project. BP also has a 50% interest in the property.

The discovery well, MC 899 no.5, was drilled in 1997 by BP using the Ocean America drilling rig. A sidetrack was immediately drilled from the discovery well to delineate the discovered reservoirs. An appraisal well was drilled in 2000.

Target reserves are primarily oil, at depths of 17,000' to 18,000' below sea level, in three separate reservoirs. The average total net thickness is approximately 425 feet. API gravity ranges from 24 to 30 degrees; sulfur content is approximately 2%.

Production began in December 2001.

Development Plans
We developed Crosby utilizing a subsea system located on MC 899, capable of producing up to six wells; the system ties back approximately 10 miles to Shell's Ursa tension leg platform on MC 809 in 3,950 feet of water. This subsea system consists of a 6-slot manifold, with dual flowlines to the Ursa platform. Three development wells have been drilled and completed.
