With 80 percent of all Americans living within five miles of a Shell-branded gasoline station, Shell and Motiva serve, on average, more than 4.5 million customers per day and sell about 14.5 billion gallons of gasoline per year, according to Lundberg Survey, Inc.
Shell stations
Nearly 14,000 Shell-branded gas stations are the most visible presence of Shell in the U.S. to the general public. Shell Oil Products US has a network of about 6,000 branded gasoline stations in the western United States. Motiva Enterprises LLC, a 50/50 joint venture between Shell Oil Company and Saudi Refining, Inc., refines and markets branded products through nearly 8,000 Shell-branded stations in the eastern and southern United States.
According to the Lundberg Survey dated December 2009, Shell ranked number one in total gallons sold and in market share in the Unites States.
