Shell Onshore Tight Sand/Shale Oil & Gas Operating Principles
We want to share our global operating principles for development of onshore tight/shale oil and natural gas with all our stakeholders.
Over the last decade, we have expanded our North American onshore natural gas portfolio, using advances in proven technology to tap rich resources of previously inaccessible "tight" gas, including gas locked in shale formations. The Shell portfolio includes about 3.5 million acres of mineral rights with the potential to yield 40 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, the energy equivalent of nearly 7 billion barrels of oil.
We want to share our global operating principles for development of onshore tight/shale oil and natural gas with all our stakeholders.
Natural gas is the purest fossil fuel. See how it provides environmental and economic benefits and supports energy innovation.
The technology advances that have made it possible to unlock new sources of natural gas are an important step forward in developing a cleaner energy future.
We focus on safety and environmental protection throughout the life cycle of a natural gas well.
Our onshore gas business in North America encompasses operations in both Canada and the United States.
