Deer Park Chemical Plant
The chemical plant began operations in the 1940s and is owned by Shell Chemical LP, part of the global Shell Chemicals Company. The plant divested its resins operation in 2000, and its vinyl chloride operation in 1987.
Very few final “consumer products” are made at the Shell Deer Park Chemical Plant. Rather, it manufactures base chemicals or raw material chemicals that are sold to other chemical companies that transform them into thousands of consumer products including plastics, paints, pharmaceuticals, carpeting, clothing, adhesives and building materials.
Consistently on the leading edge of the petrochemical industry’s technology, Shell Deer Park Chemical Plant has several “first” and “biggest” production facilities in its history.
