Shell awards lifetime supply of gasoline to Danny Crawford of Reading, Michigan
Today, Shell recognized Reading resident, Danny Crawford as a grand-prize winner in the Shell “Million Gallon Giveaway” sweepstakes. Crawford is one of six grand-prize winners to whom Shell is awarding a lifetime supply of free gasoline. Crawford will receive the gasoline in the form of $300 Shell Gift Cards and the total of the prize is worth more than $90,000.
Crawford, as part of his regular routine, stopped to buy gasoline at the Shell station located at 6917 State Route 27 in Fremont, Ind., and picked up a game card for the Shell “Million Gallon Giveaway” sweepstakes. At the time, he didn’t know that he might have bought his last tank of gasoline.
Crawford, who is a self-employed farmer and masonry worker, said that between the gasoline for his job and the future road-trips he has planned, the prize will be put to good use. "I’ve scratched off several game cards during the promotion and was in complete disbelief when the card revealed that I was a winner," said Crawford. "I immediately shared the news with my brother and co-workers and began planning how to use my lifetime supply of gasoline."
According to Karen Wildman, brand and communications manager for Shell, "We are pleased to present Mr. Crawford with a prize that he can use to enjoy memorable trips with friends and family and reduce stress at work."
Shell is in the process of verifying other potential grand-prize winners in the Shell "Million Gallon Giveaway." There was no purchase necessary to enter or to win, and determining whether a card was a winner was as simple as scratching the card to reveal the hidden message. Consumers who scratched off a winning card should call the toll-free number located near the prize message as soon as possible, and must call no later than 5 p.m. Eastern Time on Oct. 31, 2006, to redeem their prize.
The Shell “Million Gallon Giveaway” Sweepstakes
Shell has made more than $2 million in free gasoline and instant-win prizes available – including six grand prizes of a lifetime supply of free gasoline – and hundreds of thousands of $10 Shell Gas Cards in the Shell “Million Gallon Giveaway.” From July 31 through Oct. 1, 2006, consumers could enter the giveaway by visiting participating Shell locations to pick up an official scratch-and-win game card (the sweepstakes is void in Maryland, New Jersey, Virginia and Puerto Rico). Official Rules* are available at participating Shell stations.
The “Shell Million Gallon Giveaway” is part of the $30 million marketing campaign Shell launched in June, 2006 to communicate that all gasolines are not the same. The summer campaign builds on the company’s commitment to provide high quality fuel to consumers by educating consumers that all Shell gasolines not only surpass government standards for detergency, they meet top automakers’ highest standard. The higher standard, to which the campaign alludes, is the TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline standard introduced by BMW, GM, Honda and Toyota.
