Shell and National Science Teachers Association Recognize Byng Junior High School Science Teacher
This year's Shell Science Teaching Award, one of the National Science Teachers Association's annual awards, is presented to Deborah Cornelison, a science teacher at Byng Junior High School in Ada, Okla.
This award distinguishes one outstanding classroom science teacher (K-12) who has had a positive impact on his or her students, school and community through exemplary classroom science teaching. Cornelison accepted the award last month at a banquet and ceremony at NSTA’s 57th National Conference on Science Education in New Orleans.
“We at Shell are pleased to recognize such efforts promoting science and research educational excellence.” said Dr. Frazier Wilson, Social Investment Manager, Shell Oil Company. “Teaching science and life skills guides future innovators and leaders, some of who will one day be working toward technological innovations and energy solutions.”

Workforce Development Initiative

Through collaboration with education, government, industry associations and external diversity organizations, WDI helps address future critical worker shortages in engineering, geosciences, operations, crafts and maintenance disciplines. WDI executes programs for teachers, students and communities.
