Gasoline Industry Resources

Shell has received many inquiries on gas prices over the past several days and wanted to provide some context and resources.
The price of fuel at the pump is subject to several factors and unique market conditions, such as taxes, logistics, supply availability, and operating costs. For example, on Thursday, September 11th, Gulf Coast spot market prices rose $1.60 and prices on the Chicago spot market rose $0.20 cents per gallon (cpg).
Many oil companies are currently purchasing fuel on the spot market because of the loss in production as a result of Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.
