Shell Internships
If you are accepted for an internship, you'll be able to see first hand what it's like to work for us. Lasting from eight weeks to 12 months, our internships are not only paid, they offer a chance to prove yourself in a challenging environment. What's more, you'll be working on real projects that have been specifically matched to your interests and abilities.
As one of our interns, you’ll benefit from regular and structured performance evaluation from your mentor and direct supervisor. You’ll also receive direct feedback to help you to enhance your strengths and build on any areas for development.
As your internship will be fully assessed against real tasks and targets, we gain a very rounded view of your skills and capabilities. Succeed in your internship and you could be offered a full-time position at Shell when you graduate. It’s a simple and direct route into Shell.
What we look for
To be accepted for an internship, students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 (on 4.0 scale).
Capacity: You’ll need to bring the intellectual, analytical and creative ability to learn quickly, identify issues, make judgements and propose solutions.
Achievement: We’ll expect plenty of enthusiasm, resilience and confidence – you’ll be someone who can always get things done.
Relationship: You should have the character and ability to work effectively with others in a diverse team. skills (For technical students only): Understanding and approaching technical issues coupled with an enthusiasm for technical challenge.

Operations Technical Internship Program
The primary intent of Shell Exploration and Production Company’s (SEPCo’s) Operations Technical Internship Program is to build a sustainable workforce for the future in the oil & gas industry by providing Operations, Craft and Technology students pursuing an associate's degree the opportunity to work in Shell’s operations environment for a period of between three and four months.
Shell offers two types of internship programs – one for undergraduates and one for students pursuing a two-year degree.
Undergraduates
Our internship program is open to undergraduates, masters or Ph.D. candidates in any discipline with a 3.2 (on 4.0 scale) cumulative GPA. The majority of our internship opportunities will take place in the US, but we do offer some international internships for exceptional candidates.
While we accept applications year-round, the majority of internships are awarded in the early fall, so apply early.
Associate degree students
To be eligible for the Operations Technical Internship Program, candidates must have completed at least the first year of an Associate degree or two years of a BA/BS degree in one of the required academic degree programs, and should not have graduated more than three months prior to beginning the Internship. Additionally, candidates must have a current GPA of 2.5 (on 4.0 scale) or higher. Want to know more?
