Meet Shadonna

“Shell cares about its employees and values hiring the best. This is evident in the intelligence and diversity of my peers.”

What is your current role at Shell?

My current role for Shell is to provide financial support and advice to exploration, development and business technology. I answer questions about various transactions, attend meetings with groups that I support, check budgets, make sure actuals are in line with expectations, address financial issues and put together plans for correction if any discrepancies are found.

What do you like best about your role?

I like the challenge – my role is extremely challenging and thought provoking. I never know what issues I might have to address. I might formulate a plan for setting accounting and budget guidelines for projects or determine how a project fits with financial objectives. I have to learn to speak the language of my customers. It’s not repetitive.

Tell us about your background and experience

I have had various accounting and finance experiences all within Shell Exploration and Production. I came to Shell straight out of college in June 1993 after interning at Shell Chemical the summer prior to graduation.

I started out as an entry-level accountant and moved through various positions including senior accountant, analyst and now senior financial representative. I have been able to bring what I have learned in previous assignments to my next – it’s been a tremendous learning opportunity and allowed me to develop my area of expertise.

What makes you stay at Shell?

Shell cares about its employees and values hiring the best. This is evident in the intelligence and diversity of my peers – they have pride in their jobs and their ability to make ethical decisions whether about work, environment or each other.
