What is your current role at Shell?
I provide retail and commercial delivery support for both Shell Oil Products and Motiva. This includes oversight, negotiation and administration of third party carrier contracts as well as economic analysis of delivery costs and fleet strategies. Currently, I am developing a new economic model to evaluate the use of 3rd party carriers versus a proprietary fleet.
What do you like best about your role?
My current assignment began with the formation of a new department and new work processes. Previously, Shell and Motiva each had separate groups, performing the same work.
Being a part of the streamlining was interesting because I was able to appreciate the existing philosophies as well as develop new ideas while getting the necessary support to make changes. I work with a great group of people and truly appreciate the continued performance feedback from my manager.
Tell us about your background and experience
I attended the University of Tennessee where I earned a degree in Logistics and Transportation.
After graduation I had the opportunity to relocate to Houston and since June 1997 have worked for Shell in Cleveland, Chicago, and, once again, Houston. I have always worked within the Transportation group and found with each move came an increased level of responsibility.
What makes you stay at Shell?
Shell is a stable company that attracts talented people who stay because personal development is encouraged. The size and ability to move from one Shell company to another make it possible for one to change his/her career course and still be able to work under the Shell umbrella. For employees, this provides a great opportunity for career enhancement.
