What is your current role at Shell?
I support client groups within the ITDS organization, which provides application hosting and site services. Right now, with the business going global, our roles are changing.
I have global counterparts, each business line has global counterparts that they are accountable to…the broadening focus makes us a different business. Counseling, coaching, administering pay and performance, working with the diversity steering team and HR systems implementation are among my responsibilities.
In a given day, I might research compensation market value to ensure that pay is competitive, or evaluate how an HR system will affect the organization.
What do you like best about your role?
I like the people first and foremost as well as the variety and flexibility with my work – there’s something different every day. I enjoy the challenge of figuring out where the business is going, especially in a global context.
Tell us about your background and experience
I have about six years of HR experience that started in a position with Pizza Inn Corporation. I continued in HR administration with convention centers, service centers and as an HR representative for (FMC Corp?) – similar to my role at Shell, but on a smaller scale.
A friend, who works at Shell, referred me to the company. I was impressed by Shell’s reputation, diversity and breadth of opportunities.
What makes you stay at Shell?
The people – the diversity, learning opportunities and growth I have experienced working with my HR group make Shell an enjoyable place to be.
