Meet Matt - Project Integration Analyst

"My current role is exciting. I work on a team that makes determinations about rebranding retail sites, Market to Market, and financial justifications to stay in particular markets."

Project Integration Analyst

  • Location: Houston, Texas, USA
  • University: Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas
  • Studied: Marketing
  • Joined Shell: June 1999

Why did you join Shell?

I became aware of Shell and the opportunity through an acquaintance. I had graduated and was working for another company. I liked my job at the time, but saw no long-term growth potential. I researched Shell, interviewed and liked the professionalism and many opportunities available with various businesses.

How would you describe your role at Shell?

My current role is exciting. I work on a team that makes determinations about rebranding retail sites, Market to Market, and financial justifications to stay in particular markets. In my previous role, I was a sales consultant for company-operated stations.

I was responsible for the operations and profitability of the stations in my territory. I also worked to help people who were new to the company - setting up a mentoring / buddy environment is one of the strengths of Shell. The willingness to share knowledge opens up opportunity for growth, learning and building relationships needed in a competitive environment.

What do you like most about the job?

In November, I joined a team who had been together for a year. We are working to get an overall picture of Shell's marketing business and how financially viable the sites are. It's interesting to see various bits of other markets to see how they operate differently from Shell.

What's next?

I would like to transition into another financial job within the company in general or the real estate division to pick up new skills or expand my current skills.
