In response to strong shipper demand, Shell completed a flow reversal of the Zydeco Pipeline (formerly Houma-to-Houston Pipeline) in December 2013.

The Zydeco Pipeline now runs from Houston, Texas, to market hubs in St. James and Clovelly, Louisiana, providing US Gulf Coast refineries and terminals with pipeline access to additional sources of growing light crude oil production arriving in the Houston market from the Eagle Ford shale, Permian Basin, and Bakken shale.

Phases 3 and 4 of the project will add pump stations to increase capacity of the Texas to Louisiana pipeline segments (20" and 22") to approximately 250,000 bpd and 375,000 bpd of crude oil, respectively. These capacities assume a medium crude type and standard batching.
