Post-Tropical Storm Sandy Update #1

Downstream Operations

October 29, 2012 5:25:57 PM CDT

As Hurricane Sandy approaches, forecasted to make landfall late Monday night, Motiva has begun the safe and orderly shutdown of certain of its petroleum terminals on the East Coast as a precautionary measure.

The following terminals are closed or will close later this afternoon:

Baltimore, MD

Bridgeport, CT

Brooklyn, NY

Fairfax, VA

Long Island, NY

Newark, NJ

New Haven, CT

Richmond, VA

Providence, RI

Sewaren, NJ

Motiva will continue to monitor weather conditions closely and respond to further developments as necessary to protect our people and assets, the community and the environment and to minimize the potential impact on our customers. After the storm, the sites will be assessed to determine when they can resume normal operations.

Shell and Motiva are in active communication with our Shell-branded wholesalers along the East Coast to ensure Shell-branded stations are prepared for landfall. Shell-branded retail sites in mandatory evacuation areas have begun to close in compliance with the evacuation order. As always, safety is the number one priority and as the storm continues to make landfall, additional stations may close to ensure the safety of the site employees and customers. Once the storm has passed, reopening stations will begin as soon as it is safe to do so.
