Tropical Disturbance #20 -- Update #1

Shell GoM Deep Water Operations

(This information is up-to-date as of 11:00 a.m. Central, July 27, 2011.  Further updates will be provided as needed.)

Given the forecast for Tropical Disturbance #20 , Shell has begun securing current well operations on the Perdido Spar, Noble Danny Adkins Mobile Drilling Unit, and Auger in the extreme Southwest GoM.  These precautionary actions are primarily to preserve the integrity of the well systems.  Our priorities at this time are ensuring the safety of personnel, protecting the environment and minimizing production and operational impact.

We have also taken actions to evacuate a minimum number of personnel yesterday, July 26th, and will continue minimal evacuations today, July 27th.  Our total expected evacuated personnel is approximately 70 people.  These personnel are not essential to core producing and drilling operations and will not be able to perform their normal work functions during the passing storm conditions.  Production is not expected to be affected at this time.

We will continue to monitor weather reports and respond accordingly.  The information on this site will be updated as necessary.
