Hurricane Isaac Disaster benefits

Given the impact of Hurricane Isaac to our employees and their families in Louisiana and Mississippi, the following special benefits have been activated for eligible impacted employees who reside in a Presidential declared disaster area:

Disaster Benefits

Interest Free Loans

Employees in a Presidential declared disaster  area who need transportation, clothing, shelter or other assistance to get back into their homes can apply for an immediate loan of up to $2,500 with a one-year term.  A promissory note must be executed within 45 days of receipt of these monies.

Employees needing to make repairs to their homes or replace furniture or major appliances, which are not covered by insurance, FEMA or other agency benefits can apply for an additional loan of up to $7,500. A promissory note must be executed and local management and HR approval is required prior to   receipt of these monies.

Repayment of the combined total of the $2,500 and $7,500 loans may be made over a three-year period.

Temporary Living Supplement

Employees who are unable to inhabit their homes due to damage from Isaac may be reimbursed for up to $160 per day for food and lodging expenses that are not otherwise available for reimbursement from your homeowner's insurance or governmental agencies.

If staying in a hotel, this reimbursement is intended for food and lodging. If you are staying with a friend or relative, the reimbursement covers food and other related expenses.  Receipts will be required to receive the reimbursement and require local management and HR approval.  This benefit will be provided the lesser of 30 days from the time of the disaster or when the employee returns to their permanent residence or moves into temporary housing/residence.

Salary Continuation

Salary continuation will occur when employees are not able or allowed to return to work either because access is restricted or no immediate work can be done.  The program will be available on a case-by-case basis. Local management and HR will determine employee eligibility and the duration of the benefit.  Please continue to monitor local messages for information on office/location re-opening and return-to-work expectations.
