Deer Park Raises $113,000 for Education
Thank you Shell Deer Park -- runners, walkers, volunteers -- for your contributions to make this year's Strides for Schools Fun Run and Walk an extraordinary success!
The event blasted its way across the finish line -- doubling in registrations, tripling in dollars raised, and in the case of sponsorships, generating a eight-fold increase in company commitments.
This marks the 4th year that Shell Deer Park has been the title sponsor of the ‘Strides for Schools’ Fun Run, so named because 100% of the proceeds is donated to the Deer Park Education Foundation.
“We are so fortunate to have Shell Deer Park as such a generous partner, said Sheri Brown, Coordinator of the Deer Park Education Foundation. This event is truly a family event that brings our community together for a day of fun and fitness. The planning committee worked tirelessly to make the run a huge success.
We really appreciate their support and are excited about how these proceeds will help us impact our teachers and students through our Enrichment Grants. We want to thank all who participated, volunteered and sponsored this wonderful event, and we want to offer a very special thank you to Shell. Thanks for helping us brighten the future of our students!”
By the numbers:
- $113,120 total amount raised vs. $35,000 in 2012
- 1700 registrants vs. 850 in 2012
- $56,850 sponsorships vs. $7,100 in 2012
