Deer Park spreads Christmas cheer to the community

In the spirit of giving, Shell Deer Park volunteers give of their time to brighten the spirits of many this Christmas season.

Blue Santa

Shell Deer Park’s Process Technology Support (PTOS) Refinery, Chemical, and Site teams volunteered with preparations for the 2012 “Blue Santa” event hosted by the La Porte Police Officers Association and Municipal Court. Invited by Neighborhood Center’s Inc., the Deer Park volunteers organized by age group and gift wrapped more than 500 toys.

The “Blue Santa” program’s primary mission is to provide toys and Christmas dinners for needy children and their families in the local area, many of whom would not have the means to hold traditional Christmas festivities without help from their community. The group's hard work will be rewarded by the smiles of these children and families when they attend the 2013 "Blue Santa" event at the La Porte Neighborhood Center on Saturday, December 22, 2012.

Meals on Wheels/Breakfast at Santa

The Meals on Wheels/Breakfast at Santa event on December 8th this year was beyond a success. For the first time, there were more people signed up to assist with meals on wheels then we had meals to deliver. Meals on Wheels coordinator Ryan Hairston commented on the success saying, "This is a great problem to have.

Shell Deer Park’s employees continue to show a great effort and a great sense of caring for its’ community." Ryan went on to sum up the event with this quote from James Durst: “Help one another; there’s no time like the present and no present like the time.”
