Statement: Photo of effigy of President Obama

We have been made aware of a photograph taken at or near a Shell-branded site in Raleigh, NC showing a display which features an effigy of a man resembling President Obama hanging from a noose and that includes a Shell-branded station in the background. This is the action of one individual who is not affiliated with Shell or any of our wholesalers or dealers.

Shell does not condone actions or displays of this nature nor has any Shell station or wholesaler/owner operator authorized, condoned or supported this display at their Shell-branded location. Any time we hear of an incident such as this, we notify the appropriate law enforcement authorities. We find depictions such as this to be extremely offensive and regret that the Shell image has been attached to the actions of a non-Shell affiliated individual.
