Flare Work Planned for This Weekend

Pending any further scheduling issues, we are planning to move forward with our flare work this coming weekend (Jan. 19). This is the work on the Pacheco Blvd. side of the refinery that we had previously re-scheduled a couple of times.

A flare is a safety device that is used to combust excess gases and depressurize a unit or piece of equipment in the refinery.  The testing of the flare can emit smoke for short periods, and cause some noise and rumbling at times.

We know that can be unsettling, and we plan carefully in an effort to limit it.  We encourage you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns while we do this work.  Our environmental hotline is (925) 313-3777.

For updates on the refinery, you can visit this blog, follow us on Facebook at “Shell Refinery in Martinez” and on Twitter at Shell_Martinez.

Thank you for your patience as we have had to change our schedule more than once as we prepare to do this work.   As always, we aim to do projects like this in a way that does not impact our neighbors.  Please let us know if we fall short of that goal.
