Shell Deer Park making new reality for The Bridge
Throughout the history of The Bridge Over Troubled Waters (The Bridge), Shell Deer Park has provided abundant support for the agency. With the recent contribution of $10,000 to The Bridge, Shell demonstrated its continued committed to the agency’s mission to offer support, provide safety and prevent domestic and sexual violence.
At the presentation of the contribution check, Shell Deer Park Manufacturing Excellence Manager Lynne Buchanan spoke of her fond memory of working with a young Bridge client, who was living at the emergency shelter, during an annual volunteer project known as The Day of Pampering.
“I am humbled to make even a small difference in someone’s life. Shell Deer Park very much values the crucial role that The Bridge plays to provide a safe and dignified environment for those in need,” Buchanan said.
With the completion of The Bridge’s new facility in spring 2011, which Bridge to the Stars-A Brighter Future Capital Campaign is benefiting, the agency will house 25% more children and mothers in need of emergency shelter. In addition, community outreach through on-site presentations and trainings will be increased at the facility.
The new center will replace the current shelter which is beyond reasonable repair.
“Without the partnership our agency has with corporate neighbors such as Shell Deer Park, we would not be heading into a new era of The Bridge by providing expanded resources that will positively impact our community and far beyond,” The Bridge Executive Director Deborah Moseley said.
